Structural engineer, Bian Yang, 32, who beat a red light and ploughed into a motorcyclist killing him and injuring his pillion rider was jailed for 41/2 months on Friday.

BENTONG - A Bonnie and Clyde car-jacking team was detained after a high-speed 9km chase which saw their getaway car overturn here.

Two other accomplices in a separate car were also arrested at the crash site after police heard noises coming from the back of the car.

Deputy OCPD Deputy Supt Wan Azharudin Wan Ismail said upon checking, police found a man, in his 20s, held captive inside the boot.

DSP Wan Azharudin said the victim's girlfriend, also in her 20s, was also held at gun point by the accomplices.

"We have detained four suspects to assist in the car-jacking case and rescued both the victims.

"The case is being investigated for gang robbery and illegal confinement," he said when contacted.

The drama unfolded at about 8am yesterday when police spotted occupants in two cars behaving suspiciously near a petrol station here.

As police approached them to conduct an inspection, both cars sped off, triggering a high speed chase over a distance of 9km.

One of the cars then skidded when the driver negotiated a sharp bend and turned turtle, trapping a man and a woman inside.

Policemen who were trailing them apprehended them for questioning.

Upon seeing the accident, two other accomplices decided to pull over and were also detained.

Police seized a fake pistol from them.

DSP Wan Azharudin said initial investigations showed the suspects held up the victims at a parking lot of a popular resort here before driving off with them inside their car.

He said checks also showed that the other car used by the suspects was stolen in Ampang.
