Breaking bread on grass to break a record

Call it the breakfast of champions.

Yesterday, 1,024 families took their picnic mats to The Lawn @ Marina Bay for the Rise and Shine Carnival, setting the record for the largest number of families having sandwiches together.

Singapore's biggest breakfast carnival, which promoted breakfast as a healthy start to the day for children, was held in conjunction with the International Year of the Family.

Ms Grace Fu, Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, was the guest of honour.
