Brigadier-General Mervyn Tan to take over as Chief of Air Force

SINGAPORE - Brigadier-General (BG) Mervyn Tan Wei Ming will replace Major-General (MG) Hoo Cher Mou, 50, as Chief of Air Force on March 28 this year. 

BG Tan, 44, is currently Director Military Intelligence (DMI) and Chief Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (C4I). 

In his military career, he has held the appointments of Commander Air Defence and Operations Command (ADOC), and Head Air Plans Department. 

MG Hoo, 50, has held the position of Chief of Air Force since March 25, 2013. Under his leadership, the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) has participated in several peacetime support and humanitarian operations.

This includes the search and locate operations for the Malaysian Airlines MH370 that went missing in March 2014, the search and recovery operations for AirAsia Flight QZ8501 in December 2014, as well as the aerial firefighting efforts in Sumatra to combat the haze in October last year.
