SINGAPORE - Police have arrested a 26-year-old man for allegedly breaking into a restaurant located at an Orchard Road shopping centre and stealing about $8,000 cash.
The safe in the restaurant was found to be damaged and the cash was missing. A police report was made on June 1 at 9.02 pm.
With the aid of a CCTV footage, police established the identity of the suspect and arrested him in the vicinity of Choa Chu Kang on June 2 at about 2.30 pm. About $2,000 was recovered and seized from the suspect's possession as case exhibits.
He will be charged in the Court for the offence of Housebreaking and Theft by Night, which carries a maximum imprisonment term of 14 years.
