Burst of colour at one of Mr Lee's trees

Reader Sandy Tay, who volunteers at Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital in Serangoon Road, sent in this photo she took last Tuesday of the Flame of the Forest tree planted there by founding prime minister Lee Kuan Yew on Dec 14, 1963.

The oldest surviving tree planted by Mr Lee, it was not flowering when My Paper visited it in mid-April for the feature on his trees published on Wednesday.

"Things that are negative can turn positive, just like how this empty tree can become lively again," said Mrs Tay.
