Bus hostage-taker in Philippines arrested

MANILA - The knife-wielding man who took hostage a bus with at least 13 passengers on Monday morning has been arrested by the police.

After almost three hours of the hostage drama, policemen were able to get inside the Everlasting bus and arrest the still unidentified man who claimed that he was framed up by the police for a crime he did not commit.

The disgruntled man held hostage the bus, which was on its way to Cubao from Tuguegarao, on the Sta. Rita toll exit ‎of North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) ‎in Guiguinto, Bulacan around 6 a.m. on Monday.

Robin Ignacio, NLEx traffic and safety management head, said in an interview with Radyo Inquirer 990 AM that personnel of Special Weapons and Tactics arrested the hostage taker around 8:40 a.m.

Ignacio said the bus carried 13 passengers, a bus driver and a conductor. No one was reported hurt in the incident. Guiguinto police already have the suspect ‎in their custody.
