Businesses urged to give SG50 discounts

The Health Ministry and the Singapore Business Federation have teamed up to urge companies to celebrate Singapore's Golden Jubilee by giving discounts to senior citizens, and their friends and families.

Food and beverage places, leisure destinations, and health and wellness services are among the businesses being approached. The discounts would be valid from June to mid-August next year.

No further details, however, were given yesterday at an event to get sponsors for and raise corporate awareness of Singapore's 50th (SG50) birthday celebrations.

About 800 private-sector representatives were at the session, the first of several such events.

SG50 partnership committee co-chair Koh Choon Hui said companies can seize the opportunity to give back to society as they "have all benefited from Singapore's progress".

His committee aims to approach more than 20,000 companies.
