SINGAPORE - He had already contributed to two cover stories but that's not stopping Mr Gary Haris from calling the TNP hotline again.

On Oct 18, Mr Haris, 39, alerted TNP to a fire at Block 115, Ang Mo Kio Avenue 4.

The business development manager said: "I was on my way to work when I saw residents rushing down the block and fire engines rushing to the scene.

"There was black smoke from the block and I was worried about people being injured.

"I thought it was good for The New Paper to know so they can inform the public about what happened and highlight the importance of fire safety."

When asked what made him want to be a repeat caller, Mr Haris, who has read the paper every day for at least the last six years, he said: "I call only because the reports from the paper are never touch and go efforts.

"The stories are very informative and descriptive with good pictures and I enjoy reading the human parts of the story."

Mr Haris said he was also happy that the paper highlighted the five heroes of the Ang Mo Kio fire who saved four residents.
