Checks and repairs will be conducted at Tiong Bahru Plaza, following an incident where rainwater seeped through a ventilation panel on the roof of the building.
In an earlier report, water had been reported as coming down through the ceiling, causing an escalator to be shut down.
A spokesperson for Tiong Bahru Plaza wrote:
"We refer to the post on Stomp titled 'Escalator shut down as water pours through glass ceiling at Tiong Bahru Plaza' on Oct 10.
"Due to a heavy downpour last evening, rainwater seeped through our skylight smoke ventilation panel.
"Owing to safety concerns, we switched off one side of our escalators at level 3 leading to level 4, to facilitate human traffic flow.
"Additional cleaners were deployed within 5 mins from time of incident to clean up the affected areas.
"We have also placed signages at the location to inform shoppers to minimise any incidents.
"To prevent future similar reoccurrence, we activated our contractors to carry out a comprehensive check, in addition to the repair works on Oct 11.
"We would like to assure that our shoppers' safety is of utmost importance to us.
"We hope the occurrence will not deter you from visiting the mall again."
