Christmas comes early for these kids

SINGAPORE - Earlier in the day, some 150 children from lower-income families who are members of the Tanglin-Cairnhill We Love Learning (WeLL) programme took part in a Christmas party organised at the Henderson Community Club by Tanglin-Cairnhill Citizens' Consultative Committee (CCC).

The party, funded by the staff of Standard Chartered Bank, started at 10am and included activities such as a telematch, games carnival, magic show, story-telling and sing-a-long sessions and ended at 6pm with a Christmas Gifts Giveaway.

The Christmas party was aimed at bringing festive joy and warmth to the underprivileged children, with the hope that they would make new friends and spread the spirit of love and joy to one another.

Ms Indranee Rajah joined the children in a story-telling and sing-a-long session.

She read the story Tusk Tusk, written by David McKee, and taught the moral of the story to the children, telling them to embrace each other's differences and live happily with one another.

She also joined the children in singing Christmas carols.

Later she joined a volunteer from Standard Chartered Bank, who dressed up as Santa Claus, to hand out Christmas gifts to the children
