College student charged with murdering older sister

SHAH ALAM - A private college student has been charged in the magistrate's court here with the murder of his older sister at their house in Kota Kemuning last week.

Toh Wei Jun, 18, is alleged to have murdered Wei Teen, 22, at their house in Taman Kemuning Utama, Section 33, between 11.12pm on Oct 25 and 3.30am on Oct 26, 2014.

The accused, the youngest of three siblings, was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code which carries a mandatory death sentence.

Wei Jun nodded after the charge was read to him in English by a court interpreter. However, no plea was recorded.

Magistrate Norshakinah Ahmad Kamarudin fixed Dec 1 for re-mention of the case while waiting for the chemist and post-mortem reports.

The accused was represented by counsel Datuk Arunan Selvaraj while DPP Rustam Sanip appeared for the prosecution.

During the proceeding, the mother of the accused was seen to be in tears throughout and being consoled by her husband and family members.

According to press reports, Wei Teen - the second child in the family and a student of Universiti Malaysia Sabah - was found at the door to her room with a slash wound on her neck. - Bernama
