Commercial Affairs Department to get new director in June

SINGAPORE - The Commercial Affairs Department (CAD) will appoint a new director on June 13, the police said in a statement today.

Mr David Chew Siong Tai, 49, will take over from Mr Tan Boon Gin, 43, who will join the Singapore Exchange on June 15 as Chief Regulatory Officer.

Mr Tan has helmed the CAD since July 2011. He joined the Singapore Legal Service in 1997 and has held various appointments, including Deputy Public Prosecutor at the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC), District Judge at the Subordinate Courts and Executive Director, Investment Intermediaries Department at the Monetary Authority of Singapore.

Mr Chew is currently a Deputy Chief Prosecutor at the Financial and Technology Crime Division of the AGC. Having joined the Singapore Legal Service in 1992, he has held various appointments including District Judge at the Subordinate Courts, Deputy Public Prosecutor and Senior State Counsel at the AGC.
