A Stomp contributor was concerned when he found out that the $699 digital lock he purchased for his metal gate could be unlocked in 30 seconds using an Allen key.
He did not install the lock himself, as the $699 included installation fees by some workers from the IT show.
He took this video as a warning to other residents who might be considering or are already using a digital lock.
He said: "I went to IT show (in August) to make a purchase from one of the salesman after seeing it on TV.
"Before I made the purchase, the salesman repeatedly assured me that the lock is security proof and many customers have purchased which include bulk purchase from condominium owners as well."
While learning how to do the settings, he discovered that there was an easy way to bypass the security with just an Allen key (or hex key).
All he did was use the Allen key to unscrew the lock and access the reset button. No additional passcode was needed to override the old one.
He tried to get a refund, but all the shop said was that they could not do so.
They also said that they could not revert it back to the original lock as holes had already been drilled.
The contributor added: "I made this video to inform people. I am still trying to find a solution to this fault."
