Convenience store robber arrested

SINGAPORE - Police have arrested a 21-year-old man believed to be involved in a series of armed robbery at convenience stores over the past week.

Five cases of armed robbery targeting convenience stores at Lavender Street, Changi Road, Guillemard Road and Punggol Central were reported to the police between Dec 6 to 12.

Following extensive ground enquiries by officers from Bedok Police Division, Central Police Division and Ang Mo Kio Police Division, the suspect's identity was established.

He was subsequently arrested in the vicinity of Geylang Road on Dec 13.

The suspect will be charged in court on Dec 14. If convicted, he faces a jail term of up to 14 years and not less than 12 strokes of the cane.
