PETALING JAYA - A widow who died a day after being robbed by three teenagers was not beaten by the culprits as alleged by her family, said Kajang deputy OCPD Supt Abdul Ghani Mohamed Ji.
However, their actions of kicking her motorcycle and making her fall while she was travelling alone in Taman Semenyih Mewah led to internal injuries in her brain and her death.
"Two 17-year-olds have been arrested by police. We are still on the hunt for the third suspect (also aged 17) whose identity we have yet to establish," he said.
Cheong Chooi Mee, 46, was out buying supper on Monday when she was set upon by the trio.
Police found her handbag with the money missing near the home of one of the teenagers.
Cheong died in Kuala Lumpur Hospital's ICU on Tuesday.
In a separate case, Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Yahaya Ramli said a 33-year-old syabu addict, who is alleged to have beaten his wife to death in their Puchong Utama home, is expected to be charged with murder next week.
