Countdown party at Marina Bay to feature 8-min firework show

SINGAPORE - For the first time, New Year celebrations at Marina Bay will feature a firework display spanning the entire area.

With the new Jubilee Bridge open to public, those who are in the area on New Year's Eve will be able to watch the new eight-minute formation from more locations this year.

Buildings in the area will also be lighted up for the festivities, and a special light presentation will be shown on the facade of The Fullerton Hotel.

According to organisers Esplanade and Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA), the firework display will embody "Singapore's dauntless spirit to scale new heights".

The display is scheduled to begin on at 11:55pm on December 31 with music composed by music director Julian Wong.

In addition, members of the public can doodle and write on 'wishing spheres' at 21 locations across Singapore including the Esplanade Courtyard and Esplanade Concourse until December 20. These spheres will be installed and lit up at Marina Bay from December 26 to 31.

Singaporeans overseas can also make virtual wishes at the Marina Bay countdown website.
