JOHOR BARU - A couple believed to be involved in a luxury car theft syndicate operating in Johor and the Klang Valley has been nabbed by the police in Taman Plentong Masai near here.

Johor police chief Senior Deputy Comm Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff said the suspects, aged between 47 and 48, were arrested during a raid at a residential area on Aug 31.

He added that the arrests came after police received information leading to the recovery of several stolen cars reported missing in Johor, Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.

"We recovered a Toyota Lexus, a Toyota Harrier, a Toyota Vellfire, and a Volkswagen Beetle," he said at a press conference at the state police headquarters here yesterday.

"Initial investigations showed the suspects have criminal records and tested positive for drugs," he added.

In an unrelated matter, police arrested three burglary suspects aged between 27 and 36 in Bandar Baru Permas Jaya on Sept 1.

SCDP Mohd Mokhtar said police believed they had solved seven house break-in cases in the district with the arrest.
