Court frees maid agent charged with human trafficking

JOHOR BARU, Malaysia - A maid agent, faced with charges under the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007, was released by the Sessions Court here, Wednesday.

Sessions judge Muhammad Jamil Hussin ruled the charge against Muhammad Faizzal Rizza Jambari, 39, as defective, adding that the prosecution had failed to state the form of exploitation, required under Section 2 of the Act.

Muhammad Faizzal had been charged with exploiting Metia Wati, 20, an Indonesian, at Taman Kempas Utama in 2012.
