SINGAPORE - SCDF and Police personnel were seen rescuing a hysterical woman at Block 370 Hougang Street 31 at 6pm yesterday (Sep 15).
A Stomp contributor, Christina, praised their efforts and highlighted how residents helped by clearing the road and letting the officers into their homes.
She first heard the cries and screams coming from the fourth storey of the block, when the SCDF and Police officers first arrived at the scene.
At 7.30pm, more Police, SCDF and paramedic personnel arrived at the location. At around this time, a woman could be heard wailing from her window.
Some SCDF officers were seen inflating a life pack at the foot of the block, while others tried to reach the woman's flat from the third, fourth and fifth floor of the building.
They entered some of the other residents' houses to set up a safety net near the third floor.
The SCDF officers managed to rescue the woman, and wheeled her out of the block on a stretcher.
"The SCDF officers remained composed as they responded to this situation," said Christina.
She said the woman looked to be in her 40s.
She added: "Her hands were bound to the stretcher and her face was covered with a mask, and she continued crying and shouting."
"Thankfully, with the cooperation of the residents by keeping the space and roads clear for the officers, and especially those who let the officers into their homes to carry out the rescue mission, a life has been saved."
