SHAH ALAM - Crime activist Kuan Chee Heng, who helped the police to capture the suspect in the gruesome murder of teenager Ng Yuk Tim three weeks ago, has earned official praise from the Selangor police for his part in the case.
State police chief Senior Deputy Comm Datuk Mohd Shukri Dahlan presented a certificate of appreciation to Kuan in a brief ceremony at the Selangor police headquarters here yesterday.
The body of 15-year-old Yuk Tim was found in a foetal position in a suitcase in Jalan Kebun Nenas near Kota Kemuning here on Oct 22.
She was allegedly bludgeoned in the head with a dumbbell and bundled into the bag.
Twenty-three-year-old Poon Wai Hong has since been charged with her murder.
Yuk Tim was last seen leaving her home at 11am a day earlier to meet Poon, an online acquaintance, to work on cosplay costumes for an upcoming competition.
Kuan, the founder of the Selangor Community Police Association (COPS) had joined the family in the search for the girl and suspected that Poon, who had also joined the search, was responsible for her disappearance.
He questioned Poon and handed him to the police.
"Let's not forget that an innocent life was lost in this tragedy.
