Customised SG50 stickers unveiled by Facebook with Singlish expressions

SINGAPORE - Social media users in Singapore now have an array of stickers and emojis to celebrate Singapore's Golden Jubilee, as Facebook joined Twitter with the unveiling of its customised SG50 sticker pack.

Named 'Maju the Lion', the 16 stickers show the mascot in Singlish expressions, such as 'steady la (awesome)', 'shiok! (great!)' and 'bo jio (you didn't invite me)', Facebook said in a statement Friday.

Facebook's 'Maju the Lion' stickers are available for download in the Sticker Store, which can be accessed in the Messenger app.

Earlier on Monday, Twitter launched a pair of emojis for Singapore, its first-ever for the country, to commemorate the nation's Golden Jubilee, which were granted special permission by the Singapore government.

The Singapore flag emoji will be seen when you use #Singapore, while the SG50 icon will appear when you use #SG50 when Tweeting on Twitter itself.

A guide to express Singlish with emojis has also been created by marketing communications agency BBDO Singapore, as SG50 celebrations reach fever pitch on the island nation.
