Day-care worker on rape charge

Day-care worker on rape charge

She was entrusted with taking care of the children, but an Ohio day-care worker has been accused of doing the unthinkable.

A judge in the US state set a US$2 million (S$2.5 million) bond for Heather Koon, 25, after she was arraigned on charges on Monday for raping two infants, aged one and two.

She was arrested last week, Ohio TV station WKYC reported.

Police reportedly discovered a video of the woman assaulting the infants while checking up on her boyfriend, registered sex offender James Osborne.

According to a channel Fox 19 report, a laptop was first confiscated during Osborne's arrest at his apartment. A later check of the laptop revealed it belonged to Koon and police found a video file of Koon "engaging in sexual conduct with an unknown infant" according to a police report.

The father of one of the infants said he was still in shock and claimed that the day-care centre tried convincing him to keep it quiet.

"I still haven't wrapped my mind around it. It's every parent's worst nightmare," he said. "They tried to act like it was a simple assault.

A few hours later, they called us back again and asked us to keep it discreet."
