Design lockable box for mail trolley

While we cannot condone mail being left unattended, we must also understand that our postal workers do have to answer the call of nature at times ("Mail stolen after SingPost trolley left unattended"; last Wednesday).

SingPost scooters and bicycles are mounted with metal boxes that can be locked, but these are not present in push trolleys like the one used by the postwoman.

We cannot expect her to push the trolley into the toilet because of space constraints and the wet environment.

To prevent such thefts, SingPost should design a lockable box for these trolleys, which in turn can be chained to permanent fixtures.

I hope the public can be more understanding about the difficulties faced by postal workers in this labour-intensive job.
