SINGAPORE - Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean will be making an official visit to the People's Republic of China (PRC) from Oct 26 - 28 at the invitation of Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli.
During the visit, DPM Teo will co-chair the 11th Joint Council for Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC) meeting with Vice Premier Zhang, which is an annual high-level bilateral platform to discuss ways to deepen and broaden Singapore-China cooperation.
The JCBC meeting will be held in Suzhou in conjunction with the 20th anniversary of the China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park.
The two leaders will also co-chair meetings about various China-Singapore collaborations, such as the China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park and the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City.
DPM Teo is expected to meet Jiangsu Governor Li Xueyong and Suzhou Party Secretary Shi Taifeng during his visit, on top of a visit to the National University of Singapore (Suzhou) Research Institute.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Saturday that DPM Teo will also have separate meetings with Members of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission General Fan Changlong, and State Councillor Yang Jiechi on Oct 28 in Beijing.
During the visit, DPM Teo will be accompanied by National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan; Education Minister Heng Swee Keat; Minister, Prime Minister's Office Ms Grace Fu; Minister for Social and Family Development Chan Chun Sing; Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry and National Development Lee Yi Shyan; Senior Minister of State for Finance and Transport Mrs Josephine Teo; and Minister of State for Trade and Industry Teo Ser Luck, as well as senior officials from various Ministries and agencies.
