Dr Maliki attends G20 Agriculture ministers meeting in Istanbul

SINGAPORE - Dr Mohamad Maliki Bin Osman, Minister of State for National Development and Defence, will be attending the G20 Agriculture Ministers Meeting in Istanbul, Turkey, from May 7 to 8.

Dr Maliki will share about Singapore's efforts in minimising food losses and waste. He will also be touching on cross border information exchange on animal and plant health diseases which can impact food safety, public health and trade.

The G20 Agriculture ministers will also discuss how member countries can facilitate sustainable food systems to enhance global food security through the Food Security and Nutrition Framwework.

Additionally, the meeting aims to endorse Turkey's Ministerial Communique which calls for the promotion of infrastructure in agriculture and investment to increase agricultural productivity in low-income developing countries (LIDCs).

Dr Maliki will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of National Development and the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority.
