Dr Yaacob in Bangkok for regional IT meet

SINGAPORE - Minister for Communications and Information Dr Yaacob Ibrahim is in Bangkok till Saturday to attend the 14th ASEAN Telecommunications and Information Technology Ministers Meeting (TELMIN).
TELMIN is an annual meeting for ASEAN Ministers responsible for telecommunications and information and communications technology (ICT) to discuss policy directions for ASEAN's ICT initiatives.
Dr Yaacob, chairman of the 13th TELMIN, will be delivering a statement and highlighting TELMIN's achievements in 2014. These include the progress of the ASEAN ICT Master Plan 2015 and the direction for the post-2015 Master Plan.
He will also be handing over the TELMIN chairmanship to Thailand.
This year's meeting will focus on making use of the full potential of ICT to build smart communities within ASEAN.
Dr Yaacob will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Communications and Information and the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore.
