KLUANG - A school dropout was charged with the murder of a traffic police officer at the magistrate's court.

The 17-year-old allegedly caused the death of Insp Margaret Tagun Goen, aged 32, between 1am and 2.45am on Sept 6 during a roadblock at the 58th kilometre along Jalan Batu Pahat-Mersing.

The accused was alleged to have used his motorcycle to ram through the roadblock before hitting Insp Margaret, who suffered serious injuries as a result.

She was sent to Hospital Enche' Besar Hajjah Khalsom but died due to her injuries about 12.45pm the same day.

The accused was alleged to have intentionally caused the death of the officer. Section 302 of the Penal Code carries a mandatory death sentence upon conviction.

The boy nodded his head after the charge was read out to him in a closed court as the accused is underage.

No plea was recorded and Magistrate Nuruhuda Mohd Yusof set Oct 28 for the next mention pending the forensics report.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Siti Rashidah Abd Radzaz appeared for the prosecution while S. Vijaya represented the accused.
