Drug addict nabbed for impersonating cop, raping teenager

PETALING JAYA - Police have nabbed a 26-year-old drug addict for allegedly impersonating a cop and raping a 14-year-old girl at a park in Taman Sri Andalas, Klang.

It is learnt that the suspect was having a drink at the park at around 11am Friday when he took notice of a young couple there.

South Klang OCPD Asst Comm Kamarul Zaman Mamat said the suspect, who is believed to have been wearing a vest brandishing the PDRM logo, approached the couple, introducing himself as a police officer.

"The boy then ran off and left the girl on her own.

"The bogus cop threatened to arrest the girl lest she agreed to have sex with him," ACP Kamarul Zaman said.

He added that the girl submitted to the man's demands out of fear of being arrested.

The suspect raped the girl behind some bushes, ACP Kamarul Zaman said.

"A passer-by, who came across the girl after the incident, accompanied her to a police station to lodge a report," he said.

Police raided a workshop in an industrial park along Jalan Young, Pandamaran here, shortly after the report was filed, and arrested the suspect.

ACP Kamarul Zaman said the man had attempted to evade arrest by running to the top floor of the building, but was eventually apprehended at about 12.20am Saturday.

"We confiscated a PDRM vest and clothes we believe the suspect had worn while sexually assaulting the girl.

"We also retrieved a mobile phone, which could have belonged to the victim," he added.

Police also seized a red Honda EX5 motorcycle which had been reported missing in Pandamaran earlier this year.
