Drugs, weapons seized from bar in Ho Chi Minh City

HO CHI MINH CITY - Police seized many drugs and weapons while raiding the Top 9 bar in District 3, HCM City, early yesterday morning.

Police broke into the bar where about 120 guests were drinking and dancing to loud music, causing noise pollution and disturbances to nearby areas. Although most of the guests tried to escape, they could not because police had blocked all doors.

Police inspected many VIP desks and found several small nylon packets containing white powder and pills, which they confirmed as drugs. Some knives, scissors, wooden canes, and handcuffs were also seized from a VIP desk.

Police detained 35 people: 24 men and 11 women, who were suspected of using drugs.

The bar owner was also detained. He will be fined for violating administrative rules. He will also face action for keeping the bar open beyond the deadline for closure and violating some fire precaution rules.

During a raid last January, police had found a lot of illegal items in the bar, and fined the bar for violations.
