Drunk patron calls hawker 'stupid', dabs oil from food on his face

Stomp contributor Carol witnessed a drunk woman calling a hawker "stupid" at a hawker centre opposite Orchard Plaza at around 2.45am yesterday (Dec 29).

According to Carol, the woman was furious that the food she had ordered was greasy.

The female patron even dabbed the oil from the food onto the male hawker's face.

In a phone interview with Stomp, Carol said: "The woman was scolded the hawker and called him 'stupid'.

"However, the uncle was humble and ignored her.

"After a few minutes, the lady stood up and asked the hawker to go over to her table again.

"This time around, she used her finger to dab the oil from her food onto the uncle's face."

Carol added that the woman was accompanied by a man who had initially confronted the hawkers over their food.

She said the hawkers apologised and remained humble even after the angry patron scolded them repeatedly.

Carol submitted a video clip of the incident to citizen journalism website Stomp because she could not tolerate the woman's disrespectful behaviour.

She said: "Please show a little respect to those who serve you.

"I feel that the hawker was hurt by her actions as he was quietly sitting at a corner after the incident."
