PETALING JAYA - Police have detained two men in connection with a robbery at a budget hotel in Subang Jaya recently.

Asst Comm Yahaya Ramli said the suspects, aged 29 and 30, were detained in two separate locations here.

"The 30-year-old, who has three convictions involving drugs and robbery, was detained last Friday while the other man was picked up on Tuesday.

"We seized a pair of shoes, a silver ring and a motorcycle," he said, adding that police were looking for two other suspects.

On April 16, four men armed with a machete and taser gun robbed a cashier at the budget hotel.

The drama unfolded when one of the suspects entered the hotel at about 3.20am on the pretext of looking for a room.

ACP Yahaya said the three accomplices - one armed with a machete and another with a taser gun - barged in when the hotel worker was busy checking for available rooms.

The robbers escaped with about RM2,000 (S$746) after threatening the cashier.

"We found two fingerprints at the registration counter. We have also scrutinised the CCTV footage and found that the suspects did not cover their faces or wear gloves during the robbery," he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code for armed robbery.
