ECDA to have new CEO from Sep 1

SINGAPORE - The regulatory and developmental authority of Singapore's early childhood sector, the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA), will have a new chief executive officer (CEO) from Sep 1.

In a statement on Tuesday, ECDA announced that Mr Eugene Leong will take over as CEO from Dr Lee Tung Jean.

Prior to joining ECDA, Mr Leong, 39, was Senior Director (Strategic Planning) at the Ministry of National Development.

He had served as director of the childcare division at the then-Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports, and has also previously worked at the Defence Ministry and the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

Dr Lee, who has been CEO of ECDA since its inception on Apr 1, 2013, will be taking up the role of Deputy Secretary at the Ministry of Social and Family Development.

In its statement, ECDA said that under Dr Lee's leadership, the agency had established key partnerships and implemented various initiatives to uplift quality, affordability and accessibility in the early childhood sector.
