SINGAPORE - The neighbour who was charged last week in the abuse of an elderly woman in Lower Delta Road was read two additional charges on Friday (July 31).

According to media reports, Darwinder Singh Sukhdev Singh, 39, is accused of abetting the husband of the elderly woman, Madam Kamisah Burel, in feeding her faeces and urine.

Darwinder faces another charge of slapping the husband, Khamis Abas, on the face.

Darwinder was previously hauled to court for abetting Siti Redha Khamis, 25, Madam Kamisah's daughter, into feeding her mother excrement.

He now faces three charges in total.

According to Channel NewsAsia, he will be remanded at the Institute of Mental Health for two weeks for a psychiatric evaluation, and will next appear in court on August 14.

The video of the 58-year-old woman being slapped was posted on social media on July 20 by another neighbour, Mohd Juani Ali. The Ministry of Social and Family Development then said they were "looking into" the video.
