Engineering Board elects new president

SINGAPORE - The Professional Engineers Board (PEB) has elected Mr Ho Siong Hin as its new president for the next three years, announced the Ministry of National Development today.

Mr Ho, who is the Commissioner for Workplace Safety and Health at the Ministry of Manpower, will lead a 15-member board who took office on Jan 1, 2015.

Other board members include Dr Lee Bee Wah, group director for Meinhardt Singapore and Nee Soon GRC MP, and Mr Ong See Ho, deputy CEO of the Building and Construction Authority.

Commenting on his appointment, Mr Ho said: "The Board is committed to the advancement of the profession to support the needs of industries as well as working with the PE community to meet diverse needs."

He also recognised the efforts and achievements of the previous board led by Mr Lau Joo Ming, which included the setting up of a registration system of specialist professional engineers in amusement ride engineering.

Mr Ho added that he was looking forward to working with PEB's stakeholders, including the universities, Institution of Engineers Singapore and the Association of Consulting Engineers Singapore.
