Enjoy Sports Hub for free

From June 30 to July 31, the public will be able to enjoy several of the world-class facilities at the Singapore Sports Hub - without forking out a cent.

Both the training and competition swimming pools at the OCBC Aquatic Centre will be open for public use. The diving pool will also be open, but only to trained divers.

The OCBC Arena, which has six indoor courts, will be configured to host four popular community sports: badminton, basketball, volleyball and netball.

In addition, two outdoor hard courts will be host to basketball. One more court will host either netball or futsal on different days.

The water sports centre, which has facilities for both canoeing and kayaking, will be another attraction open for free during this period.

Said Singapore Sports Hub chief operating officer Oon Jin Teik: "The Sports Hub was designed with Singaporeans in mind, so it's very logical for us to want to introduce this new product to Singaporeans.

"We want them to come and experience the Sports Hub, give us their feedback and help the venue grow with the community."

Sporting facilities aside, patrons can look forward to venue tours at the $1.3 billion, 35ha facility.

For instance, there will be free tours at the new 55,000-seater National Stadium, while the Sports Hub Library and Sports Museum will also be open.

The public can start booking the facilities from June 30, either on the Sports Hub website, at an on-site Customer Care location, or via the customer care hotline on 6653-8900.

Each person can book a maximum of two hours a day - up to two weeks in advance.

Prices for using the facilities after the free period will be announced at a later date.
