Enlist maids to help fight crime: Police

The Singapore Police Force organised a community event at Lentor estate on Saturday to raise crime awareness among foreign domestic helpers and to enlist them to fight crime in private housing estates.

Police said foreign domestic helpers, who often have close bonds, are a mainstay of private housing estates.

The overall security of the neighbourhood could be raised by training foreign domestic helpers in crime prevention.

The event, which was attended by about 300 participants, including 78 foreign domestic helpers, touched on topics including housebreaking and theft, trespassing, outrage of modesty and dealing with suspicious characters.
