For Miss Samsia Begam, pursuing a diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education from SEED Institute was the next logical step in a career path she had been sure of since childhood.
She said: "I was born in India and only came to Singapore when I was three years old, so I did not have my citizenship at a young age. Because of that, my parents could not enrol me at a pre-school or kindergarten here.
"I was an only child, so my memories of childhood are quite empty."
Now 24 years old, Miss Begam's own missed opportunity for a pre-school experience filled with learning and laughter among peers inspires her to want to enrich the experiences of children today.
This led her to work in the early childhood education sector since 2008, during which she earned a Certificate in Preschool Teaching (CPT) and amassed a wealth of invaluable experience.
It was during the course of her work that she first heard of SEED Institute.
SEED Institute was built upon a vision to give children the best head-start possible, by grooming early childhood professionals to provide the best care and education to young children.
"Teachers from three different schools I've worked at strongly recommended SEED Institute, so I knew this was the place for me to further my education," she said.
When asked what it was about SEED Institute that makes it so highly recommended, Miss Begam said: "The school goes all the way to get the best lecturers for us. The lecturers really engage us.
"There's never a day when we just sit in class. Before we go home we'll have games, or something to liven things up, because that's how we'd want to teach children in future too."
