SINGAPORE - Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong has been given a clean bill of health by his urologist Dr Sim Hong Gee.
ESM Goh, who underwent a successful surgery for prostate cancer at Singapore General Hospital on Nov 22, is now under a Kegler exercise regime to strengthen his pelvic floor muscles.
The Kegler exercise involves repeatedly contracting and relaxing the muscle fibres under the pelvis, and will help to reduce urinary incontinence.
The 73-year-old, who is also an avid sportsman, said on his Facebook on Monday that it will take another four to six weeks for him to get back to tennis, golf, stretching and gym.
"Meanwhile will have to walk more on level ground to exercise but without stressing the healing surgical wounds," ESM Goh said.
"I appreciate well wishers' concern and encouragement."
ESM Goh has been sharing updates about his recovery on Facebook.
On Nov 24, he said that his recovery was on track, except for a slight discomfort: "I have not 'broken wind' yet and hence not allowed food or fluids, other than small sips of water."
He is expected to make a full recovery as the cancer was detected early.
