Expect up to 10 min delay on East-West line

SINGAPORE - Commuters can expect a delay of up to 10 minutes if they are taking the train on the East-West MRT line as trains are operating at a slower speed due to an earlier train fault.

Train operator SMRT said at about 2.45pm on their Twitter account today (Oct 28) that there was no train service between Tampines and Pasir Ris stations in both directions.

The downtime was about 20 minutes.

Two minutes later, SMRT tweeted that free buses were activated between the stations.

About 3.05pm, it said that the train service has resumed but the trains are travelling at slower speed due to the earlier fault.

In the latest update, SMRT tweeted: "UPDATE: Due to an earlier track fault, estimate additional 10 minutes travelling time between #Tampines and #PasirRis on both bound."
