TEMERLOH, Malaysia - A man and his 65-year-old father were slashed by robbers who entered a Chinese medicine shop in Jalan Haji Kassim here on the pretext of buying water.
During the 6.30pm incident on Monday, two robbers - one wearing a helmet and another dark glasses - entered the shop, asking for water.
Temerloh OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Anuar Othman said while at the cashier counter, one of the robbers suddenly took out a parang and demanded that the 35-year-old man hand over the money from the cash register.
"The victim put up a fight and in the struggle, he was slashed on his wrist. His father who heard the commotion rushed out to help, but was also slashed," he said, adding that the robbers escaped with just a cellphone.
ACP Mohd Anuar said the robbers then entered a liquor outlet about 700m away and robbed a foreign worker using the same modus operandi.
"The robbers took a laptop, two cellphones, six bottles of branded liquor and RM1,000 in cash.
They fled on a motorcycle. The vicitn was not harmed," he added.
Police have launched a manhunt for the suspects.
