Fire breaks out at Choa Chu Kang construction site

A fire broke out at a construction site along Choa Chu Kang Avenue 1 on Thursday morning, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said in a statement.

Three fire engines, three Red Rhinos, two fire bikes, three ambulances as well as six support vehicles were deployed to the scene.

SCDF arrived to find the fire raging at a three-storey dormitory within the construction site.

The firefighters extinguished the fire within an hour after overcoming difficulties with uneven terrain and thick black smoke while entering the risk area.

SCDF added that three firefighters sustained injuries and were conveyed to the National University Hospital.

Before SCDF's arrival, construction workers had attempted to put out the fire using fire hosereels and fire extinguishers.

Investigations are ongoing.
