Fire breaks out at Senoko Crescent abattoir; no injuries reported

SINGAPORE - Business owner Mr Andy Sng told The Straits Times that his workers were not around when the fire broke out after factory hours in the slaughterhouse's "wax room" - where ducks are defeathered. He added that no animals were killed in the blaze, and that all ducks had been processed for the day by the time the fire broke out.

Here is the statement from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF):

At 4.52pm, the SCDF received a call about a fire at a factory located in Senoko Crescent.

The blaze had involved the exhaust system and was contained in a space measuring 20m by 20m.

The SCDF dispatched two fire engines, one red rhino, two fire bikes and three support vehicles to the scene. The fire was put out with three waters jets within an hour.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigations.
