Fire at Bukit Timah: Deceased NSF just celebrated anniversary with girlfriend

SINGAPORE - 22-year-old NSF Tan Zhi Peng, who was killed in a fire at Jalan Gaharu, had just celebrated his one-year anniversary with his girlfriend.

According to a report on Shin Min Daily News and omy.sg, his distraught girlfriend has been crying all night since his death.

She was also reported saying that Tan was a good man and that she had intended to marry him.

The fire that broke out at his home at Jalan Gaharu also claimed his father, a 50-year-old naturalised Singaporean.

The blaze had occurred around 4am on Nov 17, killing Tan, a permanent resident originally from Malaysia, and Tan Wen Zhang, his 50-year-old father.

He had been serving National Service at the time and only booked out on weekends to stay with his father.
