Fire at Syed Alwi Road shophouse, no injuries reported

SINGAPORE - A fire broke out at a shophouse along Syed Alwi Road in the early hours of Tuesday morning (Dec 16).

No casualties or injuries were reported.

According to a statement by the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), officers was alerted to the fire at around 3.40am.

Two fire engines, two Red Rhinos, one ambulance, and seven support vehicles were dispatched to the scene.

Upon their arrival, officers found the fire on the second floor of the shophouse. Three water jets were used to extinguish the fire.

None of the occupants of the shophouse were harmed as they had self-evacuated prior to the arrival of its officers, an SCDF spokesperson said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, the spokesperson added.
