Two fires broke out at HDB flats yesterday morning, but were quickly put out.
At about 9.15am yesterday, a fire started at a unit on the ninth-storey of Block 114, Teck Whye Lane. Two women inside the unit were taken to the National University Hospital for conditions not related to the fire.
The first, a woman in her 60s, had fallen down, while the other, a woman in her 30s, suffered breathlessness.
A Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) spokesman said a fire engine, two Red Rhinos and two fire bikes were sent to the scene.
The second blaze occurred on the 14th storey of Block 604, Clementi West Street 1, at about 11.55am.
Residents TNP spoke to said they smelled smoke before seeing the fire, which engulfed the unit.
There were no injuries.
Both fires were extinguished with one water jet.
The cause of the fires is being investigated.
According to the fires statistics report for 2014, the number of fires SCDF responded to last year hit a five-year high of 4,724, but there was a slight drop in the number of residential fires.
