First-time parents usher in 49th National Day with midnight baby

SINGAPORE - Mount Alvernia Hospital welcomed its first National Day baby this year at the stroke of midnight this morning.

Weighing a healthy 3.41kg, baby boy Logan Lim, was delivered naturally on Singapore's 49th birthday.

He is the first child for Brandon Lim, 37, and Emmeline Lee, 36.

"Our precious boy will get to enjoy fireworks on his birthday every year," said Mr Lim. "His mother is also born in the year of the horse so we'll have two horses in the family now."

Goh Hock Soon, director of corporate development at Mount Alvernia Hospital said: "It's always a tremendous joy when we deliver a new baby into this world. A baby on Singapore's National Day has an added significance as the nation celebrates our 49th year of independence".

According to a Straits Times Online report, at least four families welcomed new additions to their families at midnight on National Day morning this year.
