Five dead in Brooklyn stabbing

BROOKLYN - A 37-year-old mother and her four children were killed on Saturday night allegedly when a crazed man, believed to be a relative of theirs, turned a US home in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, into a gory scene late on Saturday.

The 25-year-old suspect, who has for now been identified as the children's cousin, was arrested as he was leaving the scene, his feet bare and soaked in blood, the New York Post reported.

"He was bizarrely calm," said a neighbour.

"He was completely composed and answering their questions, even as they brought out two black bags with the kids in them," the neighbour reportedly said.

The four children were aged 18 months old, six years old, eight years old and nine years old.

Reports and officials said that the mother and the eight-year-old, a boy, were rushed to hospital, but died there, while the other three children - two girls and their younger brother - were dead from their wounds when paramedics arrived just after 11pm.

The Daily News quoted a neighbour, Ms May Chan, as saying: "The father was freaking out.

"He just came home from work and saw the police and they told him. He was hysterical."
