Sembawang residents set a new Singapore record for the longest line of people walking with national flags tied together. Ms Ong Chiek Ming, the Mars Inc country manager for Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia, placing the last piece during an attempt to form the largest Singapore flag made completely out of M&M’s chocolate lentils. Time to smile after participants at the “PAssion/Zumba Women Celebrate National Day – Our People, Our Home” event set a record for largest national flag with 2,000 flowers made of recycled plastic bags.

Celebrations for Singapore’s 49th birthday are in full swing, with records set islandwide yesterday. These include a flag made out of M&M’s chocolate candies, another from recycled plastic bags, and the longest line of people walking with national flags tied together.
