Football: MP Tin Pei Ling is first woman to become Geylang International's club adviser

SINGAPORE - Member of Parliament Tin Pei Ling was officially unveiled as Geylang International Football Club's adviser for the upcoming S-League season on Wednesday.

Ms Tin, the MP for MacPherson Single Member Constituency, is the first woman to hold the post.

She will work with the club in areas such as community outreach, corporate social responsibility, grassroots football and fund-raising activities.

Electronics company Epson also signed a one-year sponsorship agreement with the club, and will provide printing and imaging equipment and services to the club's running operations as the main sponsor.

With the season kicking off on Saturday, new coach Hasrin Jailani is among a host of changes at Geylang, who finished last season eighth out of ten teams.

The Eagles' S-League squad for the season was also introduced by club captain and new signing Isa Halim at a media conference held at Safra Tampines. Other signings include veterans Daniel Bennett and Indra Sahdan, while former LionsXII players Al-Qaasimy Rahman and Sahil Suhaimi are among the new young faces at the club.
