SINGAPORE - The People's Action Party (PAP) introduced on Saturday two new faces to its six-member team at Pasir Ris-Punggol team for the coming election.
They are former defence chief Ng Chee Meng, 47 and Temasek Holdings investment director Sun Xueling, 36, also known as Soon Sher Rene.
The two will join Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean, Mayor Teo Ser Luck, Mr Zainal Sapari and Dr Janil Puthucheary.
The new line-up was announced by Mr Teo at the PAP Punggol North Branch at Edgedale Plains.
Ms Penny Low, 48, announced that she will be stepping down as MP in the GRC, reported The Straits Times.
Current Pasir Ris-Punggol MP Gan Thiam Poh, 51, has joined the Ang Mo Kio team after his Punggol South ward was absorbed into the GRC due to recent boundary changes.
Mr Ng announced his retirement from the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) on Aug 18 and had confirmed that he will enter politics. The three-star general is the highest-ranking SAF officer to join the party and is touted as a potential office-holder.
Ms Sun has been helping out at grassroots events in Buona Vista in 2001 before joining Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC, reported The Straits Times.
The Singapore Democratic Alliance (SDA) team, which stood against the PAP in Pasir Ris-Punggol in the 2011 general election, has said it will be contesting again.
